Glossary for Media

Mise en scene - This means "placing on stage". It is the arrangement of the scenery. This includes the actors, props and set. 

Diagetic Sound - Diagetic sound are the sounds that are part of a scene which to actors are able to hear too. An example of this is a radio playing in the background. 

Non Diagetic Sound - These are the sounds an music that have been added after the filming, through the editing stages. 

Continuity Editing - This is an editing technique used to make lots of disconnected shots into one scene that's plays out normally. 

Pre-Production - This happens during the earlier stages of film/music video making. This can be anything from casting to location scouting and wardrobe preparations. 

Copyright - Copyright is a law that gives the owner of something (books, music, photographs) the right to decide whether people can use it. 

Deadlines - A deadline is a time by which something must be finished/handed in. 

Personnel - These are the people that are employed in an organisation or place of work. 

Outsourcing - This means to obtain or purchase good and services from an outside source. 
For example, U.S companies outsource from China.
