Music Video Production - Initial Response
1a) The track is very fun and upbeat. I feel like the track would be able to put you into a good mood and get you dancing along to it.
The genre of this song seems to fall under House, as is uses lots of techno music and does not have lyrics. It also uses a repeated rhythm which is very catchy.
The style of this song is interpretive. As there are not lyrics, the audience are open to be able to view it as they want to.
The length of this song is 4 minutes, typical for a popular song under its genre.
The song has a very steady pace that stay consistent throughout. The song is like a walking pace which would oddly suits it.
I can see the song being used in clubs where it is all smokey and lights are changing colours. The music of the song has a deep feeling to it. I also see the abstract colours that change of a screensaver when a computer sleeps.
1b) The name of the song I will be using is titled 'So Close Yet So Far' which is composed by Maurice, a member of our group. The song has a deep feeling to it and makes you feel like you can achieve anything. It is a very upbeat and gets you in the mood to dance. The target audience for this song are teenagers to mid 20's.
The content of the video will include things such as bright colours, lots of editing and and overall fun feel of the video. I feel like the song is made to motivate people to do something they do not think they would ever do. For example, sky diving or scuba-diving.
The video will be an interpretive style, where the audience can have their own take on the song. The video will show a story of an individual but there is not exactly what the song is about. It is just a visual representation of what the song should do. The song will use cutting to the beat but not during every beat. Multi image will be used, especially when there is a white or black background and the protagonist is shown close up on the screen. During these, the lighting will show the mood. The shots will change different colours like a part during Calvin Harris' song 'How Deep Is Your Love'. Surreal elements will be implemented throughout like the colour changing and multi images shots
The financial elements of a music video may include the actor, locations, equipment, editors, crew, props, costumes, makeup. All of these will be supplied by our group and the college. One of the main financial elements of the project is buying copyright to use the composers music. As the artist is within our group, we may be able to use his music for free or a reduced original price.
